Embedded Control Design

The SC Solution's Custom Embedded Control Design technology simplifies the integration of real-time control algorithms, data, and additional functionality such as data logging, monitoring, graphical user interfaces, and custom computer interfaces. Our technology uses a widely used real-time operating system and allows multi-computer networked controller applications as well as slimmed-down implementations on an embedded PC. We use a suite of model-based and data-based design methods to achieve maximum performance for single-loop or multi-loop systems. The controller structure can range from a PID feedback configuration to a multi-input, multi-output, (possibly adaptive) feedforward/feedback controller with set-point generation and run-to-run process tuning.

Controller Implementation

SC Solutions has extensive experience with both embedded systems and rapid prototyping systems. The former is generally better suited for production, while the latter for an R&D environment.

Embedded controllers are typically developed using rapid prototyping systems, following which substantial effort is required to port the application to the production version. A typical controller structure is depicted on the right.
