During the Northridge earthquake of 1989, seven highway bridges and over 150 other bridges in Southern California suffered moderate to severe damage. SC Solutions provided emergency support services to Caltrans for the following bridges:

I-5/14 (Ramp C) Interchange Steel Girder Alternative: this work included support of a 3D finite element model development, as well as static and seismic analyses of these models.
I-5/14 (North Connector) Interchange: support of a 3D open girder model development.
Gavin Canyon Bridge: 3D analysis for dead weight, post-tension, live, and seismic loads.

This project effectively demonstrated SC Solutions’ ability to:

Efficiently and cost-effectively solve complex finite element problems.
Develop a modeling methodology, which addressed behavior of geometrically complex structural systems.
Expedite model generation and evaluation of the analysis results to meet desired deadlines in an emergency environment.
