Design & Analysis

SC Solutions is part of a design team for an offshore LNG storage facility in the North Adriatic Sea.  This storage facility has been constructed 10 miles off the north coast of Italy on a Gravity Based Structure (GBS) housing twin LNG storage tanks each with a capacity of 155,000 cubic meters.  This unique rectangular storage facility is the result of a tank concept developed and patented by ExxonMobil and SC Solutions.

Throughout this project an extensive analytical effort has been undertaken. The effects of service as well as extreme loads are being carefully studied. SC Solutions’ responsibilities on this project include:

• Design Criteria Development,
• LNG storage tank service load design and optimization,
• LNG storage tank / GBS interface evaluation,
• Cooldown Evaluation,
• Seismic design and analysis,
• Sloshing/Fluid-Structure Interaction,
• Soil-Structure Interaction.
