Underground Fluid Storage Tanks

SC Solutions was responsible for the nonlinear finite element analyses of several underground concrete fuel storage tank structures.  Modeling included representation of the concrete structure, stored fluid, and soil strata.  The analytical studies included evaluation of the effects of the fluid structure-soil interaction on the performance of these underground concrete storage structures during 1000 and 10000 year seismic events.  An important part of this project consisted of the evaluation of the effects of sloshing in response of the structure.  The sloshing studies conducted during the project resulted in the development of practical and efficient analysis methods for use in a production-oriented environment.
