Mechatronics
Mechatronics is the design and
development of intelligent, autonomous systems, such as manipulators and mobile
robots through the integration of mechanical and electronic hardware,
actuator/sensor technology, and embedded control. SC Solutions has experience in
a wide variety of mechatronic and electromechanical systems including robotic
manipulators, wheeled mobile robots, walking machines, lithography stages,
plotters, and high speed electronic-assembly equipment. SC Solutions provides
expertise in the following areas:
Design and Development
- Systematic configuration design and development of mechanical, electromechanical, and mechatronic systems, in general—mobile robots, manipulators, and high-precision, high-speed machinery, in particular;
- Structural analysis and design;
- Failure analysis of components and structures;
- Performance analysis to compare different design alternatives;
- Organization, planning and scheduling of a systematic product design/development process in order to ensure a reliable, high quality product.
Modeling
- Kinematical analysis of displacements and motions;
- Actuator and sensor modeling;
- Dynamical, modal, structural, and stress analysis of complex dynamic systems for the design and control of the following mechatronic, electromechanical, and mechanical systems: manipulators, mobile robots, high-speed, high precision electronic assembly equipment, satellites, and thermal-ink jet plotters;
- Software integration of computer-aided design tools (for solid modeling, finite-elements, thermal analysis, dynamical analysis) to rapidly design, redesign, analyze and control mechanical, thermal, fluid, electromechanical and structural systems. This is frequently referred to as Virtual (Integrated) Prototyping and is being increasingly used in industry to rapidly explore design alternatives.
Control
- Linear and nonlinear control system design;
- Development of system models for estimation, identification, and control with applications to a wide variety of engineering systems: manipulators, mobile robots, satellites, ultra-high precision nanometric positioning systems for IC wafer production, and semiconductor processes;
- Real-time, computer-based signal processing and automation in real-time signal processing, sensing, and control of actual high performance robots and mechatronic systems;
- Embedded-control platforms and real-time operating systems.
