Senior Mechanical Engineer
Chris Underhill has over a decade of experience in the engineering of high-performance mechanical systems. Most of his experience is in the aerospace industry with human rated spaceflight hardware. As a Senior Structural Engineer at SpaceX, he led the development and qualification of several critical structures and mechanisms for the Crew Dragon vehicle. More recently he contributed at Singular Genomics as a Senior Staff Engineer, elevating the performance of their DNA sequencing platforms. Mr. Underhill has expertise in mechanical design, structural analysis, test design and procedure, failure analysis, root cause investigation, design for manufacturability (DFM), and design for excellence (DFX).
Mr. Underhill holds a B.S. and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
