Aerospace Analysis Engineer (San Diego, CA)

This position is available for San Diego-CA (Hybrid work environment).
Primary Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of a Lead Engineer, perform aerospace analysis by solving problems using advanced CAD/CAE software. Typical applications include launch vehicles, spacecraft, aircraft, and general mechanical systems. Some overlap with our world-class controls engineering division is expected:
- Finite element model creation for both linear and nonlinear simulation
- Performing structural analysis and verifying design integrity
- Static analysis and buckling
- Dynamic and transient analysis
- Developing custom tools for task automation and advanced post-processing
- Generating reports and documenting analysis results for customers
- Correlating test data to FEM predictions
Additionally, experience with one of these specialties/disciplines is highly desirable (but not required):
- Systems engineering and requirements definition
- Spaceflight hardware test campaigns
- Coupled Loads Analysis (CLA)
- Fracture/fatigue analysis
- Multibody dynamics and kinematics
- Thermal analysis
- Optomechanical design
Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident
- B.S. or M.S. degree from an ABET accredited program in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Aerospace Engineering, or similar Engineering field
- Minimum 3 years of analytical engineering experience (2 years with M.S.)
- Proficiency in one or more of the following commercial finite element analysis codes: Nastran, Abaqus, Ansys, or LS-DYNA
- Proficiency with use of computer programming and scripting tools such as MATLAB, Python, Excel, or Visual Basic/VBA
- Strong planning and organizational skills to complete assignments within budget and schedule with a high degree of accuracy
- Must be willing and eager to learn new skills, software packages, and engineering disciplines
Pay Range:
$90K – $120K
